Transformation of civil society: oral history of Ukrainian peasant culture, 1920s-1930s | Трансформація громадянського суспільства: усна історія української селянської культурі 1920-1930х років

Digitized audio recordings from a large-scale oral history project conducted by Ukrainian scholars led by William Noll in 1993-1995. Interviews were conducted with people who lived in rural western and central Ukraine in the 1920s and 1930s. They examine the transformation of rural society throughout this period. About 100 interviews are available online. They are presented without transcript, so researchers must listen to the Ukrainian-language and Russian-language originals, often in deteriorated audio quality.
